Reaction/Reflection:

The reason I chose this genre of media is because I wanted to display the changes taking place in American culture during the roaring twenties. During this era car production was revolutionized, taking advantage of  the assembly line. The mass production of cars made them cheaper and more accessible to the upper and middle classes, like characters from The Great Gatsby. On average, someone of this profession during the twenties would earn a salary of  about one to three dollars a day. No minimum wage was established in America at the time, but soon would be in aftermath of The Great Depression and New Deal reforms. The help wanted advertisement references Wilson's reserved nature and t\ lack of awareness. His wife and sister in law often called him stupid or blind. They laughed at his inability to realized the affair taking place between Myrtle and Tom. Wilson is a small business owner and most likely spends the majority of his time working and maintaining the shop.
